Safety
❄️ Winter Driving

Winter driving requires extra caution and preparation. Here are the key points:
Preparation:
- Switch to winter tires by December 1st (mandatory December 1 - March 31)
- Ensure antifreeze and washer fluid are filled
- Keep an ice scraper and snow brush in the car
- Check battery condition - cold weather drains batteries
Driving in snow and ice:
- Increase safety distance to at least 3 times normal
- Avoid sudden movements with steering wheel or pedals
- Brake gently and early
- Use engine braking on downhill slopes
- Start and accelerate smoothly to avoid wheel spin
If you start to skid:
- Take your foot off the gas
- Steer gently in the direction you want to go
- Don't press the brake if you have ABS - let the system work
Tips for safe winter driving:
- Plan your trip and check weather forecasts
- Inform someone about longer trips
- Keep warm clothes, blanket and flashlight in the car
- Fill the tank - empty tank can cause condensation
