📦 Loading a Vehicle

Correct loading is crucial for safe driving and follows legal requirements.
Legal requirements for cargo:
- Cargo must not obstruct view or lighting
- Cargo may not extend more than 1 m forward without marking
- Cargo may extend max 1.5 m backward without marking
- Protruding cargo over 1 m backward requires red flag/lamp
Maximum dimensions:
- Cargo wider than 260 cm requires permit
- Total height max 4.5 m (including cargo)
- Always check vehicle's max load in registration document
Cargo securing:
- All cargo must be properly secured
- Use tension straps, nets or cargo boxes
- Loose items become projectiles during braking
- Check cargo during driving
Weight distribution:
- Center of gravity should be low and centered
- Heavier items placed at the bottom
- Uneven load affects car's handling
- Overloading is illegal and dangerous
Roof rack and roof box:
- Check max weight for roof rack
- Place heaviest load closest to roof (not in box top)
- Air resistance increases fuel consumption
- Remove roof box when not in use
Tips:
- Plan loading before departure
- Check tire pressure - increase for heavy load
- Adjust headlights if car is heavily loaded in rear
