Night driving places special demands on the driver. Vision is reduced and the risk of accidents increases.
Lighting:
- Low beam must be used in darkness and reduced visibility

- When blinded by high beams - look toward the right edge of the road
- Check all lights are working before driving
Adjust speed:
- Drive so you can stop within the illuminated area
- Reduce speed in poor visibility
- Expect pedestrians and cyclists may be hard to see
Special risks:
- Wildlife accidents are more common at dawn and dusk
- Fatigue affects concentration more in darkness
- Reduced depth perception makes judging distances harder
Tips for safe night driving:
- Keep windshield and lights clean
- Take breaks if you feel tired
- Avoid looking directly at oncoming lights
- Use the anti-glare setting on the rearview mirror
