🚛 Towing a Trailer

Driving with a trailer requires special knowledge and caution.
Requirements and rules:
- B license allows light trailer (max 750 kg) or heavier if total weight doesn't exceed 3500 kg
- BE license required for heavier trailer combinations
- Check tow bar's max weight before hitching
Before departure:
- Ensure coupling is properly locked
- Connect safety cable
- Connect lighting and check all lights
- Adjust mirrors so you can see along the sides
Loading:
- Place heavy load low and near the axle
- Distribute weight evenly - never too much at the back
- Secure load properly
- Check ball load has correct pressure (50-100 kg)
Driving:
- Reduce speed - max 80 km/h with trailer
- Increase safety distance significantly
- Take turns extra wide
- Be careful when reversing - steer opposite direction
If trailer starts to sway:
- Release gas gently
- Steer in the direction the trailer is swinging
- Never brake hard - it makes it worse
