🚛 Towing a Trailer

Driving with a trailer requires special knowledge and caution.

Requirements and rules:

• B license allows light trailer (max 750 kg) or heavier if total weight doesn't exceed 3500 kg
• BE license required for heavier trailer combinations
• Check tow bar's max weight before hitching

Before departure:

• Ensure coupling is properly locked
• Connect safety cable
• Connect lighting and check all lights
• Adjust mirrors so you can see along the sides

Loading:

• Place heavy load low and near the axle
• Distribute weight evenly - never too much at the back
• Secure load properly
• Check ball load has correct pressure (50-100 kg)

Driving:

• Reduce speed - max 80 km/h with trailer
• Increase safety distance significantly
• Take turns extra wide
• Be careful when reversing - steer opposite direction

If trailer starts to sway:

• Release gas gently
• Steer in the direction the trailer is swinging
• Never brake hard - it makes it worse
