Road Rules
🛣️ Motorway Driving - Fast and Safe

Motorways have special rules and require adapted driving. Speeds are high and margins small.
Entering the motorway:
- Use acceleration lane to increase speed
- Adjust speed to motorway traffic
- Check mirrors and over shoulder
- Merge smoothly - use indicator
- YIELD to traffic already on motorway
Driving on motorway:
- Keep right when not overtaking
- Left lane is for overtaking
- Maintain constant speed - use cruise control
- Larger safety distance than usual (at least 3 seconds)
- Avoid sudden maneuvers
Exiting the motorway:
- Move to right lane early
- Turn on right indicator
- Enter deceleration lane
- BRAKE ONLY on deceleration lane - not on motorway
- Adjust speed for new road
Prohibited on motorway:
- Stopping or parking (except emergency)
- Reversing
- U-turns
- Driving slower than 40 km/h
- Pedestrians, cyclists, mopeds class II
When stopped/breakdown:
- Try to reach nearest exit or emergency bay
- Turn on hazard lights
- Place warning triangle 100-300 m behind car
- Stop OUTSIDE roadway if possible
- Call 112 in emergency
Speed limits:
- Usually 110 km/h or 120 km/h
- May be lower at roadworks or bad weather
- Follow electronic signs
