🅿️ Parking Rules - Stop Right

Incorrect parking can result in fines, towing, and create traffic hazards.

Stopping vs Parking:

  • Stopping = Short stop, driver stays in/by car
  • Parking = Longer stop, driver leaves car

Prohibited to stop:

  • On crosswalk or cycle crossing
  • In intersection or within 10 m from crossing road
  • At traffic lights
  • In tunnel or on bridge (unless special bays exist)
  • Where it obstructs traffic

Prohibited to park:

  • Where stopping is prohibited
  • On main road outside built-up areas
  • In front of property entrance
  • Closer than 10 m from crossing road
  • On or closer than 20 m from railway crossing
  • At bus stop
  • Where "No parking" sign is displayed

Parking signs:

  • 🅿️ = Parking allowed (time limit may apply)
  • 🚫🅿️ = No parking
  • 🛑 = No stopping
  • Additional plates show times and exceptions

Parking disc:

  • Mandatory where "Parking disc" is indicated
  • Set arrival time (round up to nearest hour or half hour)
  • Place visibly in windshield

Payment:

  • Follow instructions on machine
  • Check validity time
  • Keep receipt visible

Fines and consequences:

  • Parking fine: 400-1300 SEK depending on offense
  • Towing for serious violations
  • You're liable as owner, not just driver

Tips:

  • Always read signs BEFORE parking
  • Unsure? Find another spot
  • Photo ticket and location for longer parking
